The Mission

Talk Your Mask Off™ was created from the belief that healing should feel human. For so many people—especially those navigating emotional intensity, neurodivergence, trauma, or mental health struggles—life can feel like a constant cycle of masking, surviving, and trying to hold everything together while silently feeling overwhelmed underneath it all.

I know that feeling personally. As someone who has navigated my own experiences with neurodivergence, complex trauma, and mental health challenges, I understand what it’s like to feel “too much,” misunderstood, emotionally reactive, or disconnected from yourself. I also know how powerful it can be when someone finally feels truly seen—not judged, fixed, or analyzed, but understood. That’s why I created Talk Your Mask Off™.

This space was built to offer a more accessible, supportive, and honest approach to mental wellness through coaching that combines lived experience, empathy, emotional insight, and evidence-based tools inspired by DBT and trauma-aware practices. My goal isn’t to help people become someone else. It’s to help them understand themselves more deeply, regulate emotions more effectively, and build a life that actually feels worth living.

At Talk Your Mask Off™, I believe healing doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from learning how to work with yourself instead of constantly fighting against who you are.

Together, we focus on:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Self-understanding
  • Nervous system awareness
  • Boundaries and relationships
  • Neurodivergent support
  • Building practical tools for real-life

Most importantly, this is a space where you don’t have to perform, mask, or have everything figured out before showing up.You are allowed to be a work in progress here.

The Method Behind the Mission:
Why We Lean Into DBT

At Talk Your Mask Off™ our mission is to create a space where you can safely drop the armor, stop the performance, and show up as your raw, unfiltered self. But taking off a mask you’ve worn for years takes more than just courage—it takes a toolkit. That is why our philosophy is heavily rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

The Powerful Balance: Acceptance + Change

The word dialectical means holding two seemingly opposite truths at the exact same time. In DBT, those two truths are Acceptance and Change. For our community, that looks like this: I accept exactly who I am in this moment, masks and all... AND I am actively learning the skills to change the behaviors that no longer serve me. Your mask was likely built as a survival mechanism to protect you from pain, judgment, or trauma. DBT doesn't judge you for wearing it. Instead, it honors the purpose the mask served while giving you the psychological strength to finally lay it down.

How DBT Tools Help You Live Unmasked

We focus on the four core pillars of DBT because they directly replace the need for a mask:

Mindfulness (Being Present) : The mask forces you to constantly calculate how you are being perceived. Mindfulness teaches you to ground yourself in the current moment, quiet the external noise, and tune back into your own internal voice.

Distress Tolerance (Surviving the Raw Moments) : Taking off the mask means facing the raw, heavy emotions underneath. Distress tolerance gives you concrete crisis-survival strategies to tolerate intense pain or anxiety without reverting to old, unhealthy hiding habits.

Emotion Regulation (Mastering Your Moods) : When emotions feel like a tidal wave, a mask feels like the only shield. DBT teaches you how to understand, label, and gently shift intense feelings so you can drive your life, rather than letting your emotions drive you.

Interpersonal Effectiveness (Authentic Connection) : You cannot build genuine relationships while wearing a disguise. These skills provide a step-by-step guide on how to express your needs, speak your truth, and set firm boundaries with total confidence.

Why It Works

We don't just talk about healing we focus on action. DBT is highly structured and skill-based. It bridges the gap between wanting to be authentic and knowing how to be authentic in your everyday life—at home, at work, and in your relationships. Talk Your Mask Off™ is where you find the courage to be seen. DBT is how we ensure that being seen feels safe, sustainable, and profoundly empowering.
